So I finally got my UMID Card from SSS. It came via snail mail this morning. When I applied for it in July, at the SSS main office in Quezon City, they told me to expect it by December. Since the Yuletide season is hell season for the postal industry, and knowing how clunky our system is here, I braced for delay. I thought I will not be surprised if I receive my UMID Card in 2020, if ever I receive it at all. Well, glad to be proven wrong.
Perhaps this is the “change” Mocha Uson loves talking about on her blog. Or perhaps it has nothing to do with it. After all, I still waited months for my UMID Card to be processed and delivered, something that could be done within days under an efficient system. Still, I’m not complaining. I will just stress myself out doing so. I’m just happy to have my UMID (for Unified Multi-Purpose Identification) Card, which, according to SSS, would be my “passport to more convenient services with various government agencies.” Here’s to optimism.
